Polar Vortex Keeps Me in the Studio

Listening to WNYC in the studio this afternoon kept me abreast of the plummeting temperatures outside. It also kept me inside and working many hours past the time I planned to leave. Not such a bad thing, actually. Got a lot done while natural light came in through the windows.

One of the pieces I was working on . . . everything seemed to take on an aquatic and a bird-like quality for some reason.

The tree is still up

It took a few hours to set up, so it stands to reason that it will take at least a couple of hours to pack up and put away the tree as well as these miles and miles of lights.

Then there is the matter of the nativity and the menagerie of penguins, pandas and other animals. Maybe it will happen this weekend --- as long as the whole thing is packed away before the end of the month I won't obsess about it. So in the meantime, christmas lingers on . . .

The not so new year

If the tree lights haven't been turned on in a couple of days, it's a sign that it's time to pack it all away until next winter.

Work in progress

A work in progress. Leaving it to hang on the studio wall and will revisit it over the weekend.

In the studio

The worktable is covered with the pieces I have been working on. The floor is covered with flecks of cut acetate. Though not as cold as it was last week, the weather was conducive to staying in and not wandering out in search of a coffee.

Installation View

It's been quiet and productive in the studio. There has been time to catch my breath and hang up some of the new works to photograph . . .

The work table in my Chashama studio is now covered with new pieces . . .

Polar Vortex Approaches

Late night stroll through the polar vortex. It's coming down swirly and cold.
